After realising that finding the perfect gift for her husband, Elliott, a man who wants for nothing, was going to be impossible, Michelle decided to do something else entirely for their 25th wedding anniversary. Something that she knew he would definitely appreciate, and would leave them both with incredible memories to look back on. So, in the weeks before the occasion, she secretly invited all of their friends and family over and got in touch with our team to talk hog roasts!
Our catering manager, Jarrod, was excited to be the one to help Michelle plan the surprise anniversary party. And after asking the client lots of detailed questions about her preferences, the guests’ dietary needs, what kind of vibe she was hoping to create and the budget she was working with, he suggested our Classic Hog Roast Menu, which is well-suited to all types of events. Michelle was delighted with this recommendation and agreed it fitted the celebration style that she had in mind – all there was left for her to do was make sure Elliot didn’t find out about the surprise ahead of time!
Fortunately, Michelle and the guests all managed to avoid raising Elliott’s suspicion, and on the day of their anniversary, she had convinced him to go with her on a long, long walk in the countryside with the dogs. This gave our Hog Roast Bedlington catering crew the perfect opening to start on the meal. So after the couple had left, Jarrod and the team knocked on the door and were let through to the back garden by the client’s son, Chris, who had been in charge of putting up balloons, bunting and streamers while his parents were out.
With not a moment to waste, Hog Roast Bedlington’s team quickly set up the catering station and roasted the whole pig over a layer of savoury sage and onion stuffing. They also prepared a bowl of applesauce, tomato and mozzarella salad, seasonal mixed salad, gourmet coleslaw, fries, plus grilled vegetables and halloumi skewers with a punchy sweet chilli sauce.
The guests began to arrive shortly before the meal was ready to be served, and they couldn’t wait to see the surprised look on Elliott’s face when he discovered what everyone had been up to! They didn’t have to wait too long, though, as Michelle and Elliott arrived home right on queue. Sure enough, Elliott was completely taken aback by the surprise waiting for him, but once the initial shock wore off, he was the first to tuck into the gorgeous banquet that Hog Roast Bedlington had prepared!
