North East January Hog Blog

Well the snow has finally retreated and it feels like we are have seen the worst of the winter, hurry although I must confess I do quite like the snow. We can now start looking forward to spring the return of the birds and daffodils. The office has been kept very busy booking in hog roast catering events for the summer especially weddings. I think lots of brides to be must have been talking about their hog roast wedding catering over Christmas and made the very wise decision to book in Spitting Pig for their Middlesbrough hog roast. The chefs have been getting all the equipment serviced and cleaned up ready for the start of the season it is always quite surprising but February can be a busy month we have a hog roast in Newcastle at the weekend and a christening hog roast in Sunderland on Sunday.

If you are booking a hog roast for a party in the summer do not leave it to late especially if it is on a Saturday as these days get booked up very quickly and we hate having to say no. If we are fully booked you can always take advantage of our hog roast machine hire service as this is pretty much always available.

We have been out and about looking at vans this week as we will have to buy another vehicle before the year picks up as we are already having to hire vans for the busy period. It is very important that caterers have new clean vans to maintain their hygiene standards but also for reliability no one wants a phone call to be informed their caterer has broken down on route.

Next week we are going to visit a few local pig suppliers and farms so that we can make sure we know exactly where our pigs are coming from, this is one of the most crucial parts of being a successful hog roaster make sure you know your product. We will be offering free range pigs this year there is a slight additional charge but not as much as you may think. You then have the total piece of mind of knowing exactly where your hog roast started off from.
