Hog Roast Low Fell – Farewell for now!

Last weekend we travelled to Low Fell for Ronnie & Anne’s party to mark their son & daughter-in-law’s emigration to Australia. The forecast was for heavy rain and proved to be correct – throughout the journey & on arrival it was pouring down and by the time we’d set up in the garden we were pretty wet. The setting looked great though – they’d decorated their lovely garden with Australian flags, kangaroo balloons etc, and spirits were high in the Lois & Ollie with Roast Hog in Newton Aycliffe July 14Team SP camp J  Ronnie asked us to hold back serve a little as the sky appeared to be clearing – and so it did…  the sun came out so guests could enjoy the food in Low Fell sunshine! We served: Hog Roast plus our slow-roast Texas Beef brisket which always goes down well, plus buttered new potatoes and salads, followed by gateaux & tarts with cream, and  cheeseboard. The guests certainly seemed to enjoy the food, and there were plenty of takers for seconds (& thirds!!)

There must have been mixed emotions for our hosts as the party was to mark their family moving far away, but everyone seemed to be having a great time & the party certainly went off really well.  (Ronnie’s very generous tip to our serving staff Luke & Jen was also very gratefully received by them, and it was happy faces all round on the way home from Low Fell!)
