Planning a surprise party is no small feat – especially when it involves keeping secrets in a tight-knit workplace. But Annie and her team were up to the challenge when they decided to throw a retirement bash for their beloved manager, Eric. After 25 years of loyal service, letting him quietly slip away without a celebration just wasn’t an option.
So, with whispered meetings during lunch breaks and a very active group chat after hours, the team set out to give Eric the send-off he deserved. Tasks were quickly delegated: decorations, party games, invitations – everyone pitched in. But Annie’s role was by far the tastiest: she was in charge of feeding 70 hungry guests.
Realising quickly that tackling the food alone might turn into a full-blown episode of Kitchen Nightmares, Annie wisely called in reinforcements in the form of Hog Roast Easington! When she reached out, we were thrilled to help. After a quick consultation, our BBQ Menu was the clear winner: crowd-pleasing, cost-effective, and packed with flavourful options for every kind of guest.
On the big day, Hog Roast Easington rolled into the company car park and fired up the grill. The scent of sizzling sausages, juicy burgers, smoky chicken kebabs, and sticky spareribs began to drift through the building, sending taste buds into a frenzy. We didn’t forget the non-meat-eaters either – our veggie burgers and grilled skewers were a hit, as were our crisp salads, creamy coleslaw, and freshly made fries.
Meanwhile, Annie and the team got to work transforming the car park into Party Central. Bunting fluttered, balloons bounced in the breeze, and a show-stopping retirement cake took centre stage on the serving table.
Then came the moment of truth. Eric, lured under the guise of a “quick meeting,” walked into the surprise of his life. Cheers erupted, laughter filled the air, and Eric – clearly moved – shared a few heartfelt words before diving into the feast.
And just like that, the daily grind gave way to grilled goodness and warm goodbyes. It was a perfect day, filled with joy, gratitude, and plenty of tasty bites.
Planning a surprise may be tricky – but as Annie and her team proved, when it’s done with heart (and a little help from Hog Roast Easington), it’s more than worth it!
