To say we’re excited about Valentine’s Day would be putting it mildly. February barely got going before our diary started filling up, and now the countdown is well and truly on. Romantic dinners? Bring them on.
But what’s really made us smile this year is the mix of celebrations coming our way. Alongside couples planning something special, we’ve had a surge of Galentine’s and Palentine’s bookings too – proof that love comes in many forms, and all of them deserve good food.
One event we’re especially looking forward to lands on the 13th of Feb, when we’ll be heading out to join Emma and 20 of her closest friends for a proper Galentine’s get-together. Emma’s gone all out, planning an afternoon packed with flower arranging, pottery painting and a bottomless brunch that’s all about switching off, catching up and having a laugh. It definitely sounds like our kind of day.
For the food, Emma has picked our much-loved Alfresco Menu, and it’s easy to see why. Guests will be welcomed with generous charcuterie boards loaded with Italian cured meats, cheeses, olives, artisan breads, fruits and dips – perfect for grazing while getting creative. When it’s time for something heartier, the hog roast will take centre stage, served with crispy crackling, sage and onion stuffing and applesauce. Soft rolls and wraps will be on hand so everyone can build their own perfect combination.
The sides promise to be just as tempting. Hog Roast Tynemouth’s line-up of creamy coleslaw, fresh tomato and mozzarella salad, seasonal green leaves and buttery new potatoes tossed in chives are impossible to resist. And for anyone skipping meat altogether, we’ll be serving BBQ-pulled jackfruit rolls that are just as satisfying as the rest of the menu.
Of course, no Valentine’s celebration – Galentine’s included – is complete without dessert. So, the girls will be finishing things off with profiteroles and rich chocolate torte, because if there’s ever a day to lean into indulgence, this is it.
